Red Bull Illume Category Winner

At the end of 2021, I got absolutely blown away by scoring the best image in the Creative category of Red Bull Illume Image Quest. This was something I've been dreaming about since I got into action sports photography many years ago.

The idea of capturing this shot sneaked to my mind as a side effect of producing a campaign based on an optical illusion called "forced perspective". Sounds like a pretty sophisticated technic, but basically, that's exactly what thousands of tourists do when holding the leaning Tower in Pisa with the hope to get a unique photo from the holidays in Italy. There is something very similar for every single or at least for many action sports photographers. Everywhere we go and It doesn't really matter if it's on vacation, during the shoot, or just on some random walk through the city, our imagination recreates interesting pieces of architecture into an action sports playground. With the tool like "Forced perspective" is, I felt, I could push it a little further, bend the reality and bring the athlete to an absolutely surreal environment.
